Since there seems to be some confusion on the topic

Some things Jesus condemned, as per the Bible:
*Judging others
*Making a big public show of your faith and prayer
*Desecrating the Temple
*Betraying those who he had trusted
*Charity for the sake of being seen being nice
*Hypocrisy
*Failing to offer charity
*Divorce

Some things Jesus did not condemn, as per the Bible:
*Homosexuality
*Abortion
*Education
*Birth control

So can we all stop wrapping up anti-gay and anti-choice and anti-education (such as creationism) messages in a religious disguise? This is America. You are free to believe absolutely whatever you want - but is citing your sources too much to ask? You really can't have a meaningful discussion on any issue with someone who insists on making things up, so every time someone says, "Well we shouldn't distribute condoms to fight the spread of HIV in sub-saharan Africa because Jesus," that's not 'discussing the issues' as much as it is 'making inane, baseless statements which, in this neutral observer's opinion, are actually contrary to what I'd think should be the heart of your religious beliefs.'

In other depressing news the Catholic church still exists and is fighting the good fight against nuns and Girl Scouts. Two groups known for their dangerous, subversive, uh, nursing and campfires.
